On Feb. 25, 2025, the main structure of the tunnel for the Yanjiang Road (covering East Outer Ring Road to Jinjiang Road) project (hereinafter to be referred as the Yanjiang Road Project) was successfully capped.

The construction of the Yanjiang Road Project starts from the East Outer Ring Road in the west to the Jinjiang Road in the east, with a total length of about 2.73 kilometers, including one bridge spanning the Qingpai River and one 1.2-kilometer-long underground tunnel. The standard cross-section of the road ranges from 28 to 44 meters in width, and as a two-way four-lane driving road, it is classified as secondary road in the city. The underground tunnel under construction is 1.2 kilometer long one, and the maximum structural width is about 26 meters and it can go as deep as about 11 meters.

The first top concrete slab of the Yanjiang Road Project was successfully poured on Dec. 23, 2024. After two months of hard work, the main structure of the tunnel was successfully capped off, achieving a new breakthrough.

“From a technician’s perspective, dynamic scheme optimization have been implemented, and an expert team has been organized to provide on-site guidance to overcome technical challenges such as the construction of TRD method piles under complex geological conditions; In terms of resource management, a smart matching system has been set up to ensure precise allocation and round-the-clock support for personnel, machinery, and materials; As for progress control, two shifts of non-stop operation have been arranged during festivals like the Spring Festival. During that time, project managers led the operation team to fully guarantee the project's progress.” said leader of the Yanjiang Road Project.

The construction of the Yanjiang Road Project will further improve the road system in the surrounding area of the Dongfang Science and Technology University (named for the time being), and definitely promote the integrated construction of the Ningbo Science and Technology Innovation Zone.
