In order to accelerate the high-quality development of urban construction archives in Ningbo, strengthen inter library exchanges, and further clarify the work priorities in 2024, an annual work conference on urban construction archives in Ningbo was convened in Ningbo by Ningbo Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau on Dec. 5th.

Work summary in 2023, existing problems, and next steps of urban construction archives (offices) in each district (county, city) in 2023 was reported in the meeting. Honorary certificates were rewarded to those who have been engaged in urban construction archives work for more than 10 years. Moreover, the leader of Ningbo Construction Data and Archives Management Center deployed the assessment work of Ningbo urban construction archives target responsibility system, sorted out and summarized the achievements in 2023, and arranged the key points of Ningbo’s urban construction archives work in 2024.

It was proposed in the meeting that the year 2023 marks the 20th anniversary of the General Secretary Xi Jinging's important speech on "moving towards legal governance, openness, and modernization" in archival work. Along with the comprehensive promotion of the modernization of the national governance system and governance capacity, urban construction archives, as important information resources, should fully play a fundamental and supportive role in the field of housing and construction. Firstly, we should be conscious of the gap and try to catch up with a sense of urgency. Targeting at long-term planning and era positioning, efforts should be made to learn from advanced cities and counties, other types of archives. We should always maintain a clear mind and belief in catching up and do a good job. Secondly, we need to look for problems in the opposite direction and face difficulties with a determination to solve them. Attention should be paid to service feedback, citizen comments and emergency response. We should try to spot cognitive barrier, technical bottlenecks, and capacity gaps that hinder high-quality development, be committed to actively transforming passive file searching into active file utilization, taking full consideration of the overall situation and needs of the service center and people. Thirdly, we need to make innovations and work on integration. Efforts should be made to explore the business, technology and cross-border integration approach, turning the narrow thinking to the comprehensive innovation in archival practice, theory and system, and devote ourselves to creating a model of common prosperity and Chinese path to modernization in the archival field. 　

Other activities were also carried out during the conference, on-site meetings on the highlights of urban construction archives in Xiangshan County and a seminar on the revision of regulations on the utilization of urban construction archives in Ningbo were also held, aiming to promote "innovation in one place and sharing in the whole city". The collective thinking and efforts would gradually improve the archive service mechanism so as to boost urban construction archives in Ningbo to a higher level.

About 50 people attended the meeting, including Yuan Bujun, Member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of Ningbo Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau, relevant leaders of Ningbo Archives Bureau, some leaders of Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureaus in administrative districts, counties and cities, as well as heads and representatives of urban construction archives (offices) from various regions.
