In the latest batch of typical urban renewal cases released by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Ningbo Mingzhu Entire Community (hereinafter to be referred as Mingzhu Community) construction project was listed. Up till now, a total of three cases in Ningbo have been selected as national urban renewal typical cases.
Mingzhu Community, which has been built for 12 years, passed the future community inspection in 2023. It covers eight residential areas including Yinzhumingyuan (resettlement housing) and Yishuyuan (commercial housing), as well as nearly a thousand enterprises. It has 4,136 households and 9,415 residents. The community has diverse types of residential areas, and the resident population structure is complex with significant differences in demands.
In recent years, based on the problem list from community self-inspection and the demand list of the three groups of residents, office workers and merchants, Mingzhu Community has formulated anew renovation plan. For instance, the idle food market within the community has been transformed into an integrated community service complex named "Ruobi Neighborhood", including smart health service stations, community parks, elderly schools, youth night schools, children's palaces, community canteens, shared kitchens, rooftop farms and other various scenarios, closely meeting the needs of the elderly, children and the youth.
During the renovation, private enterprises have been invited in the project to participate and operate in advance. The value-added service projects based on universal services are more in line with the needs of residents, expanding the coverage of public services and the profit space. It provides one-stop services ranging from "oil, salt, sauce, vinegar and tea" to "clothing, food, housing, transportation and leisure", over 500 various activities have been carried out and serving for more than 12,000 person-times.
The community canteen, relying on social catering enterprises, not only satisfies the universal dining and meal delivery needs of the elderly in the community, but also takes into account the dining needs of ordinary families. It has served over 10,000 elderly people-times and more than 210,000 ordinary residents-times.
